Super summery and refreshing: the Gin Basil Smash
Let us introduce you to our current gin cocktail favourites: a BG style take on the classic 'Basil Smash': a herbaceously fragrant cocktail and - frankly - a delicious way to enjoy Brighton Gin!
It comes either as a punchy, short, intense version but we have also adapted it to a garden-party-friendly fizzy long style for those hot afternoons where you just fancy a refreshing, long drink!

How to Make
Give the basil leaves a slap in your hand to activate them, then put them into your Boston shaker and muddle them in the base of the shaker (for example with a wooden spoon if you haven't got a muddler). Add the remaining tasty ingredients and shake over ice for around 15 seconds. Double strain (so both with a Hawthorn strainer as well as a sieve) into a chilled couple glass. Garnish with a couple of lbasil leaves. YUM!
For the longer fizzy version, simply fill the shaken drink into an ice filled highball glass (we have some lovely ones here), top up with some soda water or some English sparkling wine (there are LOTS of superb options in Sussex alone!) and garnish with a couple of basil leaves. SO REFRESHING!
The perfect summer drink we think.
